My
Name is David Olsen and as Fire Chief I welcome you to the Borough of Keyport Fire
Department.
From a handful of concerned citizens in 1877, to a well
trained, volunteer group of 146 dedicated firefighters, the Keyport Fire
Department proudly serves its community of more than 8,000 residents seven days
a week 24 hours a day. We believe in our history and the accomplishments
made over the past 132 years by the dedicated firefighters who came before us
seeking to make a difference. Today, we value service, protection, pride,
respect, teamwork, and safety. Our focus
and first priority is on your safety at all times.
Our commitment is eliminating loss of life and
property through fire safety awareness and public education coupled with our
quick and proper responses to fires. We
are committed to high quality customer service that is sensitive to the needs
of the residents who live in town, the travelers who pass through its borders,
the visitors who frequent its businesses and the enthusiasts that enjoy its
recreational waters. We
will continue to provide good value of service and be innovative in our
approach, as well as learn and take best practice from our colleagues in other
fire and rescue services.
However we also need
your help. Most tragic fires are the
result of human carelessness and are therefore one hundred percent
preventable. They are caused by lack of vigilance with common household
items such as candles, cooking appliances, extension cords, lighters and
cigarettes. They are complicated by the
lack of smoke alarms in homes or the lack maintenance to existing smoke
alarms. Good fire safety must be
practiced in the home and while at work to help us serve you, the public
better.
We would also like your help to improve our service
and relationship further. If you have an opinion about any aspect of our
role or the service we provide, then please let us know by calling us at 732.264.0988, by sending
us a letter to
Together, we really can make Keyport a safer place to live.
